Day 289 ... Marathon Poker session ...
• Fete Watch
Random pick of a fete coming up no-where near you ...
1940s Southern at War Weekend
Bluebell Steam Railway, East Sussex 13th - 14th May
Not strictly a fete but none the less a typically English weekend event - dressing up and going back in time - with the addition of steam trains. I have to admit there is still apart of me that likes steam trains and train sets, but I have no desire sit on a platform noting down numbers of passing trains.
I'm always a bit nervous around these re-enacter types ever since I did a job taking pictures of a couple who were into the Sealed Knot English Civil War thing and planned to get married in full costume and in character - then again I've also met a guy who had spent £10,000 making his British Leyland Princess into a replica of the Star Ship Enterprise Bridge so I guess it takes all sorts.
• 4kingpoker Losses Update
Ended up playing all through the night and I'd also started Friday with an early morning session just to check out if the cash games were still busy at 6am GMT.
I also decided to have a go at Poker.com with the $11 I'd built up from a couple of tournie wins - but it didn't prove very profitable so thats another emptied poker account to add to the list.
HoldemPoker ... $ 138.03
$25 cash 0.25 ... $ 61.75 ... + $36.75
$25 cash 0.25 ... $ 29.70 ... + $ 4.70
$25 cash 0.25 ... $ 19.75 ... - $ 5.25
$29.70 cash 0.25 ... $ 32.50 ... + $ 2.80
$10 cash 0.10 ... $ 12.70 ... + $ 2.70

$5+0.50 SnG full ... 7th ... - $5.50

HoldemPoker ... $ 138.03 ... + $ 24.85... total $ 162.88 ( + $118.88)
Alot of fannying around to end up where I was first thing this morning really. The tournies in the night were a bit tricky as I ended up in the final three a couple of times at HoldemPoker & Poker Heaven at the same time - so was a bit of juggling which I'm not great at.
PokerHeaven ... $10.00
$10 cash 0.10 ... $00.00 ... - $10.00
$25 bonus cleared
$10+1 SnG full ... 1st ... + $39.00
$30+3 SnG full ... 3rd ... + $27.00
$20+2 SnG full ... 7th ... - $22.00
Poker Heaven ... $10 ... + $59.00 ... total $ 69.00 (+ $19.00)
Totally random night really I'd managed to do nothing much with the $10 won in last weekends tournie - but had managed to generate enough rake to clear the first $25 of the bonus - which I decided wassome sort of omen to go on an all or mothing SnG stretch - which actually paid off. The second game which I came 3rd in was a bit hellish
as I also made the final three on a table in HoldemPoker at the same time so it was rather difficult to play very tactically hence 3rd place when really I shoulh have held off going all-in with 55 against the completely gobby chip leader who seemed to turn on me as I had been playing very tight. Yes I called his all-in bluff with 10 Q over cards but my small pocket pair didn't stand up - with hindsight I should have just bided my time as the other guy was just as short staked and would have been blinded away before but at least I got a place but it would have meant another $30 profit. By this time it was around 4.30am and I was flagging - I'd pulled my neck (annoyingly badly) from sitting at computers all yesterday and it and a lack of sleep was beginning to take its toll. As the sun was rising and the local wildlife awaking I struggled to stay sharp in the the $20 SnG and although I got 3rd over at HoldemPoker I made a bold move on the best hand and got beaten on the river to finish 7th. Time for 45mins sleep before tomorrow.

Day 288 ... Backwards at HoldemPoker ...
Still working at least a day behind - didn't help leaving yesterday's finished blog as a draft and not publishing it but hopefully without anymore bank holidays for at least a week I will be back on track and into the routine next week.

HoldemPoker ... $ 165.43 ... - $27.40 ... total $ 138.03 ( + $121.43)
Still going backwards at the moment. First game I ended up going all-in with 77 on the steal on the buttonand got called 2 ways both of them with AK - of course the the river brought a king. Came 5th in one of the $10 games - I had pocket 5's when the flop came down 589 I went in with a massive raise and got called by Ace 7 which made him a missive 20% dog to my trips - of course he landed a 4 on the river to make him a random straight given that he was well beyond anyone's boundaries of pot odds. Still on the whole it's not running so bad I'm tearing my hair out.

Day 287 ... Backwards at HoldemPoker ...
Wordsicle Watch ... Bringing you more of those pointless and meaningless words and phrases now known as wordsicles.
Result Driven - Rather than elastic band driven then I guess.
Incrementalized - It's the ize factor again, using the word incremental or increments is totally adequate
Systemized - Where do I start ?
Inspired Bullshit Bingo - Should make pointless meetings fly by, or the unemployment queue that bit longer.
The gobbledygook generator - Nice one chaps and they've also have The Plain English Campaign - At last an organisation who like me wants to fight against the wordsiclisationating of the planet.

Day 286 ... Back to HoldemPoker ...
At the moment I am chasing my tail on all fronts - and stupidly trying to play poker in the background while I do it. The amount of Bank Holiday's at the moment is crazy, why can't they spread them out a bit ? I'm doing stuff I normally do the day after - the day after that, I'm planning to do tomorrows stuff a couple of days after and in the meantime as soon as I think I might have got back on track they drop another day off into the mix. And don't get me started on the whole poker site time / GMT / real GMT / EST / ET summer time thing - I don't think anyone knows where they are. Some sites seem to just carry on regardless others dont, some change one time zone and not another - It's a jungle so if your playing in any tournies - check the damn sites clocks.

$10+1 SnG full ... 2nd ... + $19.00
HoldemPoker ... $ 165.93 ... + $35.00 ... total $ 200.43 ( + $156.43)
I'm not sure quite when I played all the games as I think I got some in over the weekend but at least it gets my scraps that pass for poker notes done and up to date. And added to that I'm seeing a bit of an improvement in my results - not sure it will last but it makes such a difference playing at a site I really feel 100% at home with.

Day 285 ... Meltdown ...
The 4kingpoker tour games were a mixed bag - Pokerheaven one was well very small - 4 infact including me, which makes it all very frustrating. I didn't want to pick up any prize money but couldn't give it away for trying so managed to end up 3rd. It's one thing playing in the big tournies but I'm a bit cheesed off that we didn't build on the previous one, especially as it's such a nice site. I think the change to summertime is catching everyone out. Over at Poker.com we had a big field of over 100 and I managed to come 2nd which is nice. My MTT play seems to be a whole lot better than anything else - maybe I need to take that onboard.
4kingpoker Losses Update ...
Titan Poker ... $ 50.89
$20 cash NL 0.20 ... $30.00 ... + $10.00
$20 cash NL 0.20 ... $00.00 ... - $20.00
$20 cash NL 0.20 ... $00.00 ... - $20.00
$20 cash NL 0.20 ... $00.00 ... - $20.00
Titan Poker ... $ 50.89 ... - $50.00 ... total $ 00.89 ( - $115.11)
Total meltdown - It was always on the cards. Playing way above my bankroll, desperate & frustrated was never a good plan but there we are.
Pokerheaven ... $ 38.07
$10 cash 0.10 ... $ 8.05 ... - $1.95
$5.50 SnG ... 7th ... - $ 5.50
$10 cash 0.10 ... $ 4.00 ... - $6.00
$ 7.02 cash 0.10 ... $ 00.00 ... - $ 10.00
3rd Place in 4kingpoker Tour game ... +$10.00
PokerHeaven ... $ 20.47 ... - $ 10.47 ... total $ 10.00 (- $40.00)
Same story at PokerHeaven proving that it is just me playing like a moron. Luckily I picked up $10 in the 4kingpoker tour game - which was a bit frustrating as we only had 4 including me, so I tried giving it away but no joy, tried sitting out thinking they would blind me away and then one went out so ended up trying to give it away just to come 3rd. I won't be counting my points in the league but very frustrating that we didn't build on the last tournie. The times are all over the shop at all the poker sites at the moment - if its not the GMT then its EST that hasnt gone over to summertime.
