• Latest Poker News ... Poker.com Saves the day of WSOP hopefuls at ChecknRaisePoker.com

The home of online poker, Poker.com, has generously offered to provide the WSOP packages won by ten ChecknRaisePoker.com members who have been told that ChecknRaisePoker.com is unable to fund their World Series of Poker prize packages as previously won through their website promotions.

According to various press releases surfacing on online gaming news sites, ten ChecknRaisePoker.com members that had won World Series of Poker seats have been informed that their prize packages are not to be honored. Via an email from ChecknRaise management they have instead been offered a series of small payments over the coming months.

Poker.com has attempted to contact ChecknRaisePoker.com management by email and telephone to confirm this situation and offer to cover the prize costs, but as yet have been unable to get a response.

Both the tournament entry fee and spending money according to the terms of each promotion will be provided by Poker.com if any of the affected players come forward.

Poker.com Director of Gaming, Paul Cherry said, "I don't want to comment too much at this time, as we are yet to obtain confirmation that the reported situation is accurate. But if the story is true, we are happy to help these players however possible.”

Managed to make a bit of progress which is needed to keep me afloat online.

Just got back from a great night out playing a live game at a local pub. Bit of a small event as they usually get 40-50 players apparently but this is definately a tournie I want to do again. 21 players started, 3 table shootout with 3 from each going through to final table. I made it to final table with probably a decent chip lead on my table having taken out 2 of the players but then found the chips stacks were re-set for the final table so like starting all over again.

They all seemed a really friendly bunch including one character who was determined to go all-in guns blasting - and playing blind - thats blind not blind drunk. He doubled up on the first hand and from there on in even with the blinds at 10/20 it was apparent every hand was going to cost 500+ to see the flop. So much for taking control of the table, I was going to have to wait for a hand with strength, especially as I was to act before the now massive chip leader. I decide it was probably best to wait for a couple more of the impatient players to go out and hope that I remained an equally short stack - once anyone else started to make progress I was going to have to get aggressive. Well for the next 30 mins I saw no cards at all - no choice but to keep folding and the blinds were creaping up every 20mins as my stack was slowly but surely dwindling.

The big stack was still playing some hands blind but I got dealt KA and was thinking now was the time to pick up an all-in or at least 500 if he was definately blind. He was and went in for the regulation 500 but unfortunatly two called in before me and I had to make a tough decision - fortunatly the right one - I folded figuring both players whilst bored of folding had also been patient and were making a stand with pocket pairs. I was right thankfully - they turned over 99 and QQ. The 99 made trips on the flop and we thought was sorted until a Q came on the river - tough break.

I sat it out until the maniac had left the table a few hands later leaving us with 4 at the table including me - very short stacked. There was no way I was going to be able to sneek into the money (top 3) just folding but I just wasnt getting any hands - I was now stuck with high blinds and so any hand was still going to be for all my money.

In the end I folded and folded - picked up one set of blinds but continued to get hands like 47off and 38off on the blinds which I just had to give up. At last I hit a decent hand QA suited with barely enough to meet the blind - It was going to be all-in every hand after this. One caller turns over A9 suited - We both catch and ace on the flop and he catched a 9 on the turn ...

Thats Poker & was one of the most enjoyable nights out I've had in a long time.
