4kingpoker Losses

After last weeks blow up online at PokerStars & Full Tilt Poker I deposited at Poker.com as I needed to fund the private tournaments running in January. Anyway after barely a couple of hours play I'm $180 up. I'm fully expecting a random meltdown sometime soon which will probably see the profit and my bankroll disapear but you never know ... I might actually keep the gremlins at bay.

But at least I don't try to bluff Phil Ivey ...

Random YouTube Corner - Will It Blend ?

Came across this purely because it was on the YouTube homepage. A great piece of viral marketing by a company who makes food blenders. Basically this guy tests household items to see if they will or won't blend. So far they've blended mobile phones, lightbulbs, pens, cans, crowbars & rake handles ...

"Genius" Bill Fillmaff Donks at PokerStars

Hitting a straight draw on the river with puppy feet calls for a rap if your The 1998 Worldwide Poker Champion Bill Fillmaff.

The donkey killer then takes down the blinds moving all-in with pocket cowboy's ... A move you won't find in Doyle Brunson's Super System ... but it's in the Fillmaff Secret System. You'd be mad to use it but crazy not to check it out.

Bill has become something of an online legend for his match-ups with Phil Helmuth - maybe Phil has no manners but I guess he has a sense of humour.

4kingpoker Losses

I've had one of my usual big blowout online - I was doing ok playing at Full Tilt Poker and I'd been building up reasonably steadily. That said I'm playing alot more aggressively trying to pick up marginal pots that the other players are scared of and generally trying to setup a table image of stealing alot of pots in the hope that when I hit a big hand I can take down a big pot.

Anyway I'm playing at Phil Ivey's $1/2 NL table (he's out of town)

I'd been getting under everyones skin having taken down 4 or 5 pots in a row when I get Big Slick - AK on the Big Blind.

Preflop the betting came round to me, with several calls and a moderate raise by the Button, I re-raised and we were down to the two of us with a nice sized pot.

Flop comes down 3 Ace 3

So I'm first to act with 2 pair aces & 3's but the board showing 2 clubs. I raise twice the pot wanting to take out the flush draw and putting him on high cards or a high pocket pair. He re-raises me all-in and I figure he's gone for the steal before and lost a couple of hands to me so I call.

He turns over AA ... Gutted & I lose a big $386 hand ... Ouch

That pretty much took me out (I've been reckless with my bankroll) so I'm going to be down in the cheap seats to lick my wounds.

But at least I didn't lose my head playing Rodeo Poker ...

Random YouTube Corner - Classic Rainbow

We've had random weather, fete watch & now more childhood TV favourties. I found this clip from a classic episode of Rainbow from the 1970's it's totally unedited - Unbelievably the script writers got it through but it was the age of innocence and great entertainment for kids & parents alike.

Playing Poker in UK Pubs & PKR $50 Freeroll

UK set to Legalise Playing Poker in Pubs

As recently reported in the Sunday Times the UK government is planning to loosen up gambling regulations. Currently playing card games for cash in pubs requires a special permit. The new legislation is expected to allow playing poker and other card games for cash in all pubs but restrictions are expected. So far the most likely option is a cap on a players maximum loses - expected to be around £10 per night. The reforms to the UK pub licencing laws & regulations would take effect in 2007.

I personally think this is long overdue - Considering the legal state sponsored mugging via the National Lottery has been in full swing for years ... Promising billion to 1 odds at life changing money I hardly think £10 for a pub league or tournament buy-in is going to turn the nation into a bunch of hardcore gamblers.

Let's be honest about it the lottery did that years ago and some crazy statistic like 60% of lottery ticket buyers think buying £10 of tickets and scratch cards is a good way to provide for their pension.

If people seriously believe that - They don't need gambling legislation ... They need to be locked in a padded room.

We've been allowed to play certain pub games like cribbage for cash legally for years but only for penny change. I have fond memories of hours spent in the pub over a pint and a crib board to bring home a hansome profit of 25p at the end of a night ... The idea of a tenner from each player up for grabs is positively mouth watering.

Aussie Millions 2007 Crown Casino Preview

The 2007 Crown Casino Poker Championship known as The Aussie Millions is this January from the 16th - 19th at the Crown Casino, Melbourne, Austrailia. With an estimated $5 million prize pool for the main event.

Big names expected so far are Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Marcel Luske, Mike Sexton, Barry Greenstein, Clonie Gowan, Joe Hatchem, Kenna James, John Juanda, Scott Fischman & Tony G who recently won the BetFair Asian Poker Tour.

So who won the Aussie Millions in 2006 ?

New Zealander Lee Nelson who also picked up 3rd place in the BetFair Asian Poker Tour, 1st place in the Grosvenor World Masters this year and has a string of other final table places over the past few years.

So you think you can multi-table ?

I'm not a big fan of multi-tabling to be honest.

OK so the arguement goes that if you play more tables you need to make less profit from each to make the same hourly win rate. That seems logical but for me going past 2 tables makes my head hurt and means you have next to no idea about the players your up against.

This might be ok for the micro low tables where everyone is going to be an idiot or make the big hands fairly obvious then playing tight and very slective is the best approach - but that really is just grinding. If your only going play premium hands I think that shows and at even just marginally higher stakes creative play on less tables is more profitable IMHO.

From what I can figure out multi table fans really go for straight play and premium hands - so if your on a table against someone you figure or know is in 3 or 4+ games then think about what they're capable of ... They're not going to get too tricky with marginal and drawing hands but they're going to have something to win big on with the hands they do play.

For me I prefer and have better success (relatively) playing a single table (or 2 max) aggressively and much more tactically - this means I may appear loose and crazy alot which means a very good chance of getting my big hands paid. If your sitting with 6+ games active and folding everything apart from big hands often it means you won't get paid when you hit and you miss alot of safer opportunities to pick up those mid size pots no-one is sure of.

Anyway there you go if you have money to burn you can hook up 4+ screens and multi-table on 16-20 games ... Crazy bankroll requirements but hey I'm sure these guys swear by it ... I'd love to know what they're hourly target is.

Pain Free move to New Look Blog ?

So this week I'm 4 days late posting this being Thursday. A combination of a bit of a cold, other work needing attention and deciding to move the blog onto the beta google thing explains the delay. So hopefully now after hours last night tinkering and pretty much wishing I hadn't - I now have a blog which actually has the same colours as 4kingpoker main site, which is something.

On the negative side Google's so called easier to use beta blogging thing isn't quite so slick ... yet. Limited colour choices means even the standard link colour blue isn't available and seems like everytime I change something for the sidebar stuff in HTML it looses the formating on the previous stuff which is annoying. Still I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

4kingpoker Losses

So far I've only played a couple of hours or so in the last week, I didn't take the 250% re-deposit bonus Poker Heaven offered me in the end. I like PokerHeaven alot as the players are weak passive but I really need to check out the growth of juicy players now at FullTilt Poker, I'm up around $100 there and seem to be clearing the bonus quicker than I expected. I've also been playing PokerStars which also seems to have got juicier than I remember it, so far I'm up around $150 at Stars after not much play at all.

Wordsicles & Political Correctness Gone Mad

It's been a while since I've ranted about my pet hate ... Meaningless business jargon ... (I'll give Phil Hellmuth a rest as I think he's been doing some charity work recently). Wordsicles are those totally pointless buzz words idiot business & marketing types chuck around like confetti to give obvious concepts some kind of supernatural and zen like status.

So we've had "blue sky thinking" to the point it's become part of the language so those uber trendy muppets have to get to the new new thing ... "brain salad" "thought salad" ... so now instead of sending your under stimulated underlings off for some "blue sky thinking" they're gathering round to "toss some thought salad" ...

bullshit merchants

And as if having trendy wanabees coming up with daft ideas wasn't enough. The political correctness brigade are jumping in on the act ... Now don't get me wrong I'm all in favour of equality and totally against racism, discrimination and all for sticking up for minorities but this is just bolox.

Apparently the PC police of the motivational business & training junkets are no longer sending their droids ... oops I meant staff / delegates off to do some "brain storming" they now have to call it "mind mapping" due to brain storming being a type of very rare brain fit ...

Now I don't wish to seem dismissive or disrespectful of unfortunate people who have suffered from these brain storms or their families & friends ...

But equally I see little benefit for them knowing some stupid PC motivation coach has banned the term which clearly like many other words (proper ones at that) have several meanings ...

The sad thing is in all this political correctness we've actually lost genuine humanity and manners and replaced it with some half assed "have a nice day" (like I give a sh*t) culture.

Now you've read some stuff on poker, use the damn links, check out our 4kingpoker reviews, sign-up to some poker sites using our links, deposit a load of cash and get playing ;-) oh & Good Luck at the Tables ... Cheers Scrawnybob

FullTilt Poker overtakes Party Poker, Iggy moves on & Online Qualifiers for 2007 Aussie Millions

FullTilt Beats Party Poker ... FullTilt becomes 2nd biggest Site.

FullTilt Poker has over taken Party Poker to become the 2nd largest poker room online. Whilst Party Poker player volume has taken a severe beating after withdrawing from US online poker, FullTilt has continued to accept American online poker players and has reaped the rewards. PokerStars also staying with US players has maintained its dominance and number one position by a wide margin.

Other poker sites are continuing to consolidate and buy out other sites, notably the iPoker / Playtech buyout of the Tribeca Europe operation which will see the migration from Tribeca to the iPoker Network of sites like VC Poker. Playtech boasts this will make the iPoker network the largest NON US focussed poker network in the business. The move is certain to boost player volumes for existing sites on the network like Titan Poker & Noble Poker over the next few months.

Guiness & Poker Blog ... Iggy Moves Home

The single most successful poker blogger - Iggy is to continue his Guiness & Poker Blog famed for uber posts and random thoughts at a new home, having teamed up with the PokerWorks / Pokernews conglomerate he can now be found here - Iggy's Blog.

Which leads me into thoughts about my own very humble blog ...

Scrawnybob's 4kingpoker Ramble ... Iggy wannabe / Iggy I ain't

I started this blog as something of an after thought ... after launching 4kingpoker.com with no clue about setting up an internet poker site or blogging.

One piece of reoccuring blogging advice which I've probably ignored is to personalise your blog or maybe have an alter ego.

I'm pretty sure my personal life is of little or no importance beyond my small part of the universe and I'm not about to recast Scrawnybob as some kind of poker superhero but I should at least make my blog a little more friendly & personal.

OK so here it is - I'm no beer drinking high stakes poker player with masses of wit and wisedom to impart but at least my name isn't Muriel and I don't have 45 cats and an "exciting" photographic collection of teapot cosies as a basis for my blog.

I am Scrawnybob, an average joe poker player from the UK. Sometimes I'm up, sometimes I'm down, but hopefully I'm always learning more about poker. I setup 4kingpoker.com around a year ago having sat on the domains for 18mnths watching the easy money of the poker affiliate boom pass me by until I finally decided to give it a go.

After several attempts at giving the blog a structure, a purpose and an aim I think it's time to give up on having a plan and just chuck anything in which I think might be interesting ... and as I am unlikely to come close to blogging on a daily basis I'm just going try to get something up once a week.

At the end of the day anyone reading this ... read it quick & just get on playing poker - If you find any of my reviews etc useful ... Please sign up to the sites using my links here or at 4kingpoker.com ;-) deposit some cash and get playing online poker.

Back in my corner of the world I spent the weekend down at a nice cottage in Wales with a few surfy types and ended up playing poker with chocolate coins for chips (it was that or jigsaw pieces / crunchy nut cornflakes) ... great fun and I'm sure I could have cleaned them all out if we hadn't all started eating away at our chip stacks ... It's was great to see a full table of new poker virgins enjoying the game for the first time and a great reminder that it's not all about updating bonus offers and keeping track of promotions / dates and all the affiliate stuff.

$10 Million VC Poker Grand Slam Tournament, Dog's Play Poker & Why I Hate Phil Hellmuth

Dog's Play Poker ... Donkey's dressed in Dog's Clothing

Phil Helmuth Bitching - Again

Personally I bloody strongly dislike Phil Helmuth (I won't say hate because I've never met the bloke). But seriously - World champion poker player or not, 50 WSOP in the money finishes or not & youngest prodigy poker genius or not ...

Phil Helmuth you seriously need to get some damn manners - you are frankly a spoilt brat and when it doesn't go your way a total tw*t.

Check out the 2nd to last hand Hellmuth played in the 2006 WSOP ... Seriously rude to an amateur, bitching an moaning like he'd been dealt 3 aces and got cracked - but no he had AK off the other guy had K 10 suited. The guy was close to braining Phil and I think if I'd been sat there I'd have lost it. Hellmuth comes out with his patent "He can't even spell poker" ... You know what Mr Bigshot Poker Champ, you can't spell manners ... Give me Mike the Mouth anyday at least he has a sense of humour.

4kingpoker News ... I've been changing a few things on 4kingpoker.com to try and get it all a bit more newsy and easier to navigate ... Not sure about the colour changes from blue to black yet but it's definately a more interesting read. If anyone is actually out there check it out and give us some feedback.

Extreme Strip Roulette, That Jamie Gold Lawsuit & Negreanu makes Hellmuth meltdown on HSP

Extreme Strip Roulette ... Are you a Gambler or a Poker Player ?

That Jamie Gold WSOP Winner Lawsuit ... Every two bit wanabee lawyer & poker blogger seems to have an opinion on the lawsuit which has seen half of Jamie Gold's 2006 WSOP frozen. But I came across an interesting piece in Law School Dropout's Poker Blog which seems to cover the whole thing with alot more credible legal thoughts than I've seen elsewhere.

High Stakes Poker ... Negreanu puts Phil Helmuth into Meltdown

4kingpoker losses ... Still got a few pennies at Full Tilt Poker but basically floundering around having still not recovered from one of my patent "dump my bankroll" sessions. Although today I received a tempting 250% re-load bonus offer from Poker Heaven which I will probably take up and make this my final attempt to beat my demons and beat those juicy cash games ... But we'll see.

Hellmuth gets a beating at High Stakes Poker

4kingpoker News ... Playtech / iPoker buys Tribeca Europe for $75m

Playtech (iPoker Network) announced on Monday it had agreed to buy part of rival Tribeca Tables Europe for $75 million. Bringing with it sites currently operating on Tribeca's software platform including VCPoker, PaddyPower, Blue Square & Expekt.

Phil Hellmuth makes quickest All-in move Ever ... Phil Hellmuth who is notoriously bad at winning in cash games made a brief apperance on High Stakes Poker and swiftly blew $150,000 in the space of a few hands.

I'm really getting into watching High Stakes Poker on TV ... Basically it's an ongoing cash game open to the poker pro's who stump up a minimum $100,000 buy-in. Daniel Negreanu has suffered a bit of a beating and not recovered from losing a massive hand against Gus Hanson who made quad 5's against Daniel's Full 6's & 5's .. that's a tough beat which Negreanu handled with true professionalism, unlike Hellmuth who is in danger of blowing up in classic style. It was really entertaining to see Phil Hellmuth's patent high speed all-in call against Barry Greenstein ... Man I love to see Hellmuth suffer.

4kingpoker Losses ... Easy come, easy go at FullTilt Poker for me this week. I managed to burn off $100 of profit in about 10mins and swiftly followed it with most of the rest of it yesterday.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... Next tournies will be at UltimateBet when we get the confirmed times / dates they will be up soon.

I played Clonie Gowan at FullTilt Poker & Survived UltimateBet / Absolute Poker Merger Rumours

4kingpoker Losses ... I've been playing a bit at Full Tilt Poker the last couple of days which has been great fun & a bit of profit. The cool thing I have found is that if like me your not a big fan of the cartoon avatars & bright graphics ... you don't have to put up with them ...

Go into the options menu and you can make the site really clean and simple - No avatars & just dark simple background or set for somewhere in between. It's really made a difference, that and the increase in fish playing at the site ... FullTilt is nothing like the hardcore tougher site it used to be ... Play the Pro's & Beat the Fish.

Anyway I'd been sat in at a $0.25/0.50 NL cash table for a while when I noticed that yes I was on a celebrity table ... Clonie Gowan no less who was playing for her favourite charity The National Ovarian Foundation. Phil Ivey was also in the house on the $1/2 tables I think. FullTilt has a great line-up of pro players you can actually play and chat to, I'm not into the celebrity thing but I have to admit it is kind of nice to come away from a table able to say you didn't loose all your chips to a pro ... I'll leave Phil and $1/2 tables for another day.

Chris Ferguson slices carrot's at the Poker table

Anyway I managed to turn about $40 into $200+ yesterday and was doing well this morning until a couple of hands, this one was a real shocker ...

I hit a low flush on the flop and figured I needed to bet big to get the one card chancers away from what was a decent pot - so I'm sat with about $170 at the table and last to act, so I let them bet and then go over the top for all their money (about $60 a piece - damn it if they don't both turn over clubs, so 3 made flushed on the flop and 9 of the clubs in the deck are out ... Unreal.

At the end of today I'm pretty much where I started from yesterday but it's been fun and I have to say FullTilt has grown on me massively.

The final 2 freerolls will be played at UltimateBet & PKR 3D poker ... dates to follow soon.

4kingpoker News UltimateBet and Absolute Poker merger rumours continue to fly around with announcement expected this week. The resulting poker room would become a bigger player in the market but as yet it is unclear who's software etc would be utilised ... Most likely is using the UltimateBet software and player interface with Absolute Poker's better backroom, marketing and affiliate setup. As a result of the US online gambling bill more mergers and aquistions are likely and there are more rumours including possible talks between Ladbrokes Poker, Party Gaming & 888.com / Pacific Poker ... One thing for sure as a result of the US Bill the poker business is unlikely to look the same in a years time as it does now.

More Poker.com Private Tournies & WSOP 2006 Final Hand

We have been in the process of moving house over the last weekend and the place is still a bomb site so not had much chance to blog or keep up with the forum. Starting next week I'm going to try and get the blog full of more inteesting content. I have been looking at putting up poker related youtube videos on 4kingpoker and after some early fiddling around I think it's going to be better putting any interesting finds up in the blog rather than on the main site ... so watch this space.

Poker Heaven Bonus & Review

4kingpoker Losses ... Definately had no time to play after a rubbish showing in the last 4kingpoker tournie which I think was the only action I got this week.

Funny hand took me out I got Q9 in middle position and short stacked decided to limp in calling the low blinds ... Flop came down 994 which made me trips but not the best way round anyway with a flush draw on the board I decided to try and keep a lid on the hand and hope to just pick up a few chips to keep me going. Turn comes down a 4 so now sat with a Full House and feeling alot more confident and hoping the other guy would hit the flush and I could double up ... Long story short we end up all-in and he turns over 44 making quads ... shit happens.

And to kick off the Poker Tube - Here is the final hand on the final table of the WSOP 2006 which saw Jamie Gold the Winner of the World Series of Poker 2006.

Gus Hanson & Daniel Negreanu clash on High Stakes Poker.

And now the from the bizzare to the rediculous ... And there was Senator Bill Frist worried about online poker ... hell ban fireworks clearly we're all retards.

More US Online Gambling Bill - Ban on poker in US

Poker Thoughts for the week ... US Poker Ban

Well everyone in the industry seems to be wandering around in circles, running off in different dierections or jumping of cliffs like lemmings.

Due to all the legal implications either real or perceived, NON US poker forums like 4kingpoker that do not operate as poker rooms are struggling to know what the future holds.

The internet is a global means of communication and yet the US online gambling bill (a US law regulating the tranfer of money from the US to online gambling sites) seems to be potentially effecting just about everything and everyone else in the world interested in playing poker either online or in live games ... This IMHO seems to be ethically wrong.

I'm not going to get into the whole "US Poker Ban or Not" debate ... why ?

Well because everyone including lawyers and legal eagles seem to have found little concensus - On the one hand sites like PartyPoker and Pacific Poker (both traded companies) have made it clear and have withdrawn from the US poker market. On the other most sites seem to be taking either a clear stand that as don't operate out of the US therefore the law does not apply and they feel it goes against international trade law, or they are currently continuing "business as usual"

The most important thing from a players point of view is that the reputable sites are assuring players their money is safe on their poker sites.

It's true that the new bill does only restrict the payment via banking systems from the US to a gambling / poker site and therefore some argue that this is not a US poker ban. But the interesting thing will be how much the US government take this view also.

One thing is clear that everyone will be watching and waiting to see what happens once the bill is signed and the 720 days for the banks to implement it are up. Let's face it US banks / credit cards haven't been dealing with poker sites for a good while already so many are predicting business as usual ... Neteller is still planning to operate and it is unclear whether the bill has any hold over a European payment system or not.

In short it seems that online poker for US players is still the grey area that it was before the bill was passed.

The most startling factor is how the online gambling bill ever got to this stage in the first place. Senator Frist has managed to attached it to the port security bill which was guaranteed to pass no matter what was attached to it. However many are expressing concerns that such an irrelevant piece of law could be attached so easily - maybe these voices will multiply in the halls of power and cut the bill out all together.

For legal reasons (ie. I'm NOT a lawyer) I would advise all players around the world to always check the legal status of playing online poker in their country of residence - and I do NOT encourage anyone to break any laws which may apply in their country of residence. Any statements by the poker sites regarding whether sites are "open" or "closed" to US players are quoted directly from the respective sites and are NOT the views or opinions of 4kingpoker or this blog - They are in thepublic domain and reproduced purely for entertainment / information purposes.

4kingpoker Losses ... Managed to have a great morning on Poker.com (which incidently looks brilliant since the graphics redesign) and played $130 dollars up to just short of $500 in the space of a couple of hours. Come the afternoon and yes the inevitable happens - I play looser more speculative poker and p** it all away ... well I've ended up in modest profit. Again this proves that if I concentrate - I WIN but if I get cocky and push too much - I LOSE ... As they say ... It's not rocket science.

US Online Gambling Prohibition Bill - US Poker Ban ? The End of Online Poker in US or NOT ?

US Passes Bill - A Ban on Online Poker ???

The US house of Representatives has passed a bill about gambling transactions over the internet ... Not by fair or legitimate means - But by stealth ... By attaching the Online Gambling Prohibition Bill to the Port Security Bill making it a sure vote.

The Port Security Bill was important and virtually guaranteed to pass no matter what was attached to it ... Underhand or What ??

But is this really a Ban on Online Poker in the US ???
Is this the end of online poker in America ???

Well the inevitable panic posting in forums has been around for a while and this is unlikely to slow it down but it's important to keep some perspective on the bill and everything surrounding it.

Firstly the bill never was and isn't an outright crystal clear ban of online poker in the US. The bill aims to restrict online gambling by prohibiting the use of electronic payments, including credit cards ... That is NOT the same as banning online poker.

OK so it may make things tougher to play in the US but the bill has NOT suddenly made playing online poker in the US illegal ... Which seems to be what alot of panic forum poster seem to think.

At least for the moment it looks like Neteller is a valid means of depositing and withdrawl at online poker sites ... It looks like the bill will take up to 9 months to be fully implimented and in the meantime Neteller, a Euopean company with no US based holdings appears to plan to continue it's business until they're told they can't.

Obviously the most logical thing to do would be to legalise online poker and make some fat taxes, but a few zealots in government find the idea so terribly bad they seek to ban it - They knew they couldn't ban it so they've sneaked in a bill designed to make it harder to make the real money transactions in the US. They even had to do that on the back of another bill in order to get it through ...

Online poker illegal in the US ? ... I think not
The end of online poker in America ? ... Lets hope not

Online Gambling Prohibition Bill Update ... Pacific Poker / 888.com have announced they are ceasing their US accounts which is close to half their business. Other poker sites like Party Poker / Party Gaming are assessing the situation. It's too soon for US players to panic ... The bill will probably take 9 months to impliment, its unclear how effective it will be and how keen the banks and institutions will be to enforce it.

4kingpoker Losses ... Not much play at the moment as I'm tied up following the situation with the new bill that has gone through in the US.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... We had a great buy-in game at Titan on Sunday with 23 entries fighting over a $119 prize fund. HarryLime yet again proved victorious taking 1st place although he was short staked when there were 3 or 4 players remaining. Andodysee came 2nd in the heads up against Harry but it was a good battle.

4kingpoker joins $250 Titan Private FR

4kingpoker Losses ... Not much success online at the moment so I was really looking forward to our first home game for several weeks on friday night.

Ended up being a very mixed night as I blasted through my chips early on. Cashed up twice in the first hour and got beat on two big hands which was frustrating but I didn't feel I did the wrong thing ...

I flopped the nut straight and correctly slow played knowing that the guy after me wouldn't be able to leave chips out on the table. Sure enough he raised £5 after 2 of us checked to him - the player on my right folds and I raise over the top to £10 still feeling confident I was enough ahead, the next card didnt help him but I then pushed all-in and he called turning over two pair - better than I expected but still ahead until the river makes him a full house.

The rest of the night seemed to be going his way - big change and we were all getting pounded - Long story short I ended up putting £60 in play and only managed to break even my the end of the night - not great but at least I got back square.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... We have a couple of games on this Sunday 1st October - The 6th game in the Buy-in Tour and a new format with Titan Poker which will be a weekly $250 FREEROLL at 6pm EST which is a joint private freeroll with a couple of other poker forum sites, this will replace the Titan Series and should be fun to play a private freeroll but up against some new players.

3pm EST at Titan Poker for a $3+0.30 buy-in with $50 added -
game 6 of The 4kingpoker Buy-in Tour.

6pm EST at Titan Poker for a $250 FREEROLL open to all players who sign-up to Titan through our banners / links using BONUS CODE: 4kingpoker

Poker Heaven Bonus & Review

4kingpoker Losses ... I've been playing at PokerHeaven quite profitably until I had a random turn (yes again) and started playing in the $1/2 games (way above my bankroll) with some success then a disasterous run of luck. Not really bad beats but just really big hands with heavy match-ups ... losing my ace high flush to a full house on the river a few times, KK losing to Ace rag when I'd got the player all-in pre-flop ... That kind of thing. Anyway I'll start building up again steadily.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... After yesterday's cancelled buy-in tournie at PokerHeaven which was a major disappointment given that we have a fair few play money players there I've managed to get next Sunday's tournie changed to a $50 freeroll.

Sunday 17th September, 3pm EST at PokerHeaven $50 freeroll - game 14 of The 4kingpoker Freeroll Tour.

4kingpoker News ... We have a couple more new sites coming into the reviews soon. I'm also going to be adding another free to enter competition and I'm working on some sort of incentive posting reward system.

PKR 3D Poker launches Real Money + 50% up to $250 Bonus

4kingpoker Losses ... I've been playing a bit at PokerHeaven on the Boss Network. I really like the software and the players truely suck, so much so that even I can make a bit of money ... Up $130 so far from playing about 3 hrs in the $0.25/0.50 NL cash games ... not sure how long that will last though.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... The 1000th member celebration freeroll at DreamPoker went well this weekend. We had 69 players and a host of regular and new faces ... Hayden1009 took 1st place with DomEast coming in 5th and Rgchan in 6th place. I finished a not very impressive 39th having got a bit enthusiastic with a couple of early hands and then hitting a long spell of duff cards ... I had a pocket pair once but 55 wasn't going to get me anywhere so managed to blind myself away - Great fun though.

The next weekend we're at PokerHeaven for game 5 of the 4kingpoker buy-in tour. $3+0.30 buy-in with $50 added on Sunday 7th September at 3pm EST and then back at PokerHeaven the following Sunday for the 6th game in the league series.

4kingpoker News ... The forum has grown to over 1000 members which is great and I'm hoping to be spending more time in the forums. Social Bookmarking has now been added to the site and I am now working on improving the layout on the articles sections and getting the top 10 review sections finished so that we have top 10 reviews for bonus, software, weak players, biggest, mac, new & overall.

4kingpoker Losses ... I've been working so much on the sites I haven't had a chance to play online. We've not organised a home game for ages but hopefully we'll get back on it in September when everyone has done the holiday thing.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... Nice result for Littlegrave who came 1st in the Titan game battling with HarryLime who finally finished 2nd. Sunday's game was the fourth game of the 4kingpoker Buy-in Tour.

Next I plan to get the couple of September games at PokerHeaven on the Boss Network. I really rate the site as the players really are bad, there is a reasonable volume of games and the software isn't a total eyesore like alot of the easiest to win sites.

There will also be a couple of freerolls to organise in September - Will be looking into getting some of the newer sites to host these.

4kingpoker Losses ... Not had much time to play, but enough time to get through my bankroll at Ultimatebet, yet again proving I can win well at peak times and pi** it all away playing during off peak.
Nice bit of progress at Noble Poker tripled my meager bankroll - unsuprisingly playing at times when there was a better volume of games - picking out juicy 0.25/0.50 NL cash games.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... The next game planned for this Sunday at Titan Poker which is the 4th game in the 4kingpoker Buy-in Tour on Sunday 27th August 3pm EST for a $3+0.30 buy-in with $50 added.

4kingpoker News ... Still snowed under just getting fundamentals sorted on the site - I'll be really glad when I have the basis of all the sites sorted and then I can actually take part in the tournies and the forum a bit more.

4kingpoker Losses ... I Lost $50 in the one and only hand I played in a 0.50/$1 cash game the other day at UltimateBet ... with AA.

I'd been sitting patiently folding everything and playing tight when I landed AA on the button. Everyone folded round to me, I didn't want to loose both the players on the blinds even through it was a loose table so I just put in a 1x raise to make it look like I was trying to steal the blinds & hoping I'd get re-raised by one of them. Sure enough the BB re-raised and I raised the pot back at him - he then pushed me all-in which was great ... Even if he was on high pocket pair my Aces had him dominated and so I was set to double up my $50 in one hand or so I thought. He turns over AA and the flop comes down King and two spades and as I'm looking down to check my aces the inevitable happens - yes two more spades on the turn & river to give him a flush ... The only thing that could have stopped a split pot.

I was gutted - Think this is the first time I've had AA and come up against AA which was bad enough but to loose to the flush was doubly gutting ... Still I know we both did the right thing getting all the money in pre-flop ... Just unlucky.

Somewhat tilty I jumped straight into a $20+2 10 seat SnG and managed after some up's and down's and a couple of lucky hands to win - so recovered the losses ... Phew.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... The next game planned for this Sunday at Titan Poker which is the 3rd game in the 4kingpoker Buy-in Tour on Sunday 20th August 3pm EST for a $3+0.30 buy-in with $50 added.

The following weekend (27th August) will be the 4th game in the Buy-in Series again a $3+0.30 buy-in with $50 added at Titan Poker.

4kingpoker News ... Jamie Gold wins the 2006 WSOP Main Event and is $12 million richer. He qualified to the WSOP main event as part of Team Bodog and has signed up a deal to carry on playing at Bodog in regular online games and they're also funding him to play all the big poker tournments on the world circuit.

He had a dominating chip lead and really didnt endanger his stack but very successfully bullied the smaller stacks constantly raising and applying the pressure. He was chip leader for several days and picked off 7 of the final table players single handedly. Once he had taken out 2005 WSOP player of the year Allen Cunningham who finished 4th leaving the other 2 players very short staked, Jamie Gold was the inevitable winner.

Poker Blog of the Week ... The Law School Dropout's Poker Blog

great poker blog kept by a law student who got fed up with the idea of a soul-sucking career in law and decided to do something about it. This is the tale of his experiences, starting out as a 2/4 grinder and moving up until he was sitting in $100/$200 and $2,000NL games, all within the span of about 12 months.

4kingpoker Losses ... No losses this week due to lack of play, hopefully I will get a chance to play a bit this week - I've got a bit of money at poker.com and a free $20 at party poker which I've played with a bit and was doing ok until I really started to treat the players with a little too much contempt ... but they are really really bad ... don't even need massive amounts of patience to make money there but you do need to make sure you don't pick up their bad habits.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... The $3 Buy-in tournament at Poker.com this weekend was won by one of our newer members ... gonhuntin which puts him in 3rd place overall leaderboard with 10 games to go. HarryLime & charterboss are in joint 1st place in the league both with 16pts.

This coming weekend 4kingpoker has another game at Poker.com this time a $50 freeroll ... The 13th game in the 4kingpoker Freeroll tour ... Sunday 6th August at 3pm EST.

4kingpoker News ... Having sorted out most of the changes to bigger text on the site now it looks 100x better and much easier to read than the original version. Still alot more work to do to get 4kingpoker up in the top poker forums but I think finally it feels like its going in the right direction rather than drifting. So much to do and just not enough time.

With the whole online poker situation in the US getting wierder by the minute, tales of panicing sportsbooks, an arrested company director and some of the poker sites in a panic about having US players it seems like things are getting all bent out of shape and not much perspective on the bill. The bill may or may not get through the senate. I'm no lawyer but as far as I can gather it won't end up getting through and most importantly it is very unlikely that online poker in the US will be banned.

I really can't see I'm going to get time to play at profitable times for the moment.

4kingpoker Tournaments ... Hosted a good freeroll at Poker.com on the weekend and it's good to have a tournie that actually went as planned. This coming weekend 4kingpoker has another game at Poker.com this time a $3+0.30 buy-in with $50 added ... The 2nd game in the 4kingpoker Buy-in tour which is on Sunday 30th July at 3pm EST.

4kingpoker News ... At the moment the site is a bit up in the air as I'm trying to clean the site up and increase the text sizes and make it all easier to scan. On top of this I'm planning to improve other areas and generally the backroom stuff is a hell of alot more involved than I ever imagined ... So bear with me.

Day 365 ... 4kingpoker Losses One Year On

One Year on ...

Well its a year (365 days) since I started keeping a record of my poker losses in preparation for the launch of 4kingpoker.com which isnt a year old until October. Having set a budget of $600 I think I ended up going a bit over (around $750) and had up until last night got only $50 ish left at HoldemPoker, less than $20 at Titan Poker & $50 at Noble Poker. After staying up last night due to it being too hot to sleep I ended up $250 at Noble Poker (same iPoker Network as Titan Poker). The net result approximately (as it's still too hot) is that the year of poker has cost me around $380 or £200 which is in my humble opinion a bargain for the amount of games I have played at least in the early days. Of course my school report would read ... "must try harder - Scrawnybob consistently plays games without due attention and is easily distracted by more important work"

• 4kingpoker Losses Update

I've kind of conveniently lost track of some deposits and losses at Titan Poker when I was depositing to payout the overall winner of the Titan Series II ... Long story short was I tried to play up past the $50 to give me a bit of money left to play with ... and failed then found I needed to have $100 in to do the tranfer, so after paying the prize I've got less than $20 ... oops

Holdem Poker ... $ 51.83

$5+0.50 SnG ... 6th ... - $5.50
$5+0.50 SnG ... 7th ... - $5.50
$5+0.50 SnG ... 2nd ... + $9.50
$5+0.50 SnG ...10th ... - $5.50
$5+0.50 SnG ... 6th ... - $5.50

Holdem Poker ... $ 51.83 ... -$ 12.50 ... total $ 39.33 (-$ 4.67)

I've been so tied up with updating 4kingpoker.com, badbeatornot.com & milliondollarpokerguide.com that I've only managed to play 5 games in a week ... And all of those badly. Gone is the $200 ish profit and now I'm actually down at HoldemPoker. I'm coming to the end of a year of keeping track of my losses and I'll have to take the extra deposits at Titan out of next years budget. My "New Year" resolution is going to be to only play when I can really play and to try and work my way through some of the outstanding bonuses I have lying around at a few sites ... but we'll see how well that goes.

According to various press releases surfacing on online gaming news sites, ten ChecknRaisePoker.com members that had won World Series of Poker seats have been informed that their prize packages are not to be honored. Poker.com Director of Gaming, Paul Cherry said, "I don't want to comment too much at this time, as we are yet to obtain confirmation that the reported situation is accurate. But if the story is true, we are happy to help these players however possible.”

Managed to make a bit of progress which is needed to keep me afloat online.

Just got back from a great night out playing a live game at a local pub. Bit of a small event as they usually get 40-50 players apparently but this is definately a tournie I want to do again. 21 players started, 3 table shootout with 3 from each going through to final table. I made it to final table with probably a decent chip lead on my table having taken out 2 of the players but then found the chips stacks were re-set for the final table so like starting all over again.

They all seemed a really friendly bunch including one character who was determined to go all-in guns blasting - and playing blind - thats blind not blind drunk. He doubled up on the first hand and from there on in even with the blinds at 10/20 it was apparent every hand was going to cost 500+ to see the flop. So much for taking control of the table, I was going to have to wait for a hand with strength, especially as I was to act before the now massive chip leader. I decide it was probably best to wait for a couple more of the impatient players to go out and hope that I remained an equally short stack - once anyone else started to make progress I was going to have to get aggressive. Well for the next 30 mins I saw no cards at all - no choice but to keep folding and the blinds were creaping up every 20mins as my stack was slowly but surely dwindling.

The big stack was still playing some hands blind but I got dealt KA and was thinking now was the time to pick up an all-in or at least 500 if he was definately blind. He was and went in for the regulation 500 but unfortunatly two called in before me and I had to make a tough decision - fortunatly the right one - I folded figuring both players whilst bored of folding had also been patient and were making a stand with pocket pairs. I was right thankfully - they turned over 99 and QQ. The 99 made trips on the flop and we thought was sorted until a Q came on the river - tough break.

I sat it out until the maniac had left the table a few hands later leaving us with 4 at the table including me - very short stacked. There was no way I was going to be able to sneek into the money (top 3) just folding but I just wasnt getting any hands - I was now stuck with high blinds and so any hand was still going to be for all my money.

In the end I folded and folded - picked up one set of blinds but continued to get hands like 47off and 38off on the blinds which I just had to give up. At last I hit a decent hand QA suited with barely enough to meet the blind - It was going to be all-in every hand after this. One caller turns over A9 suited - We both catch and ace on the flop and he catched a 9 on the turn ...

Thats Poker & was one of the most enjoyable nights out I've had in a long time.
